Who do you look up to?

Image result for ASK AND RECEIVEJohn 16:23-24

And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

Most times, I have found myself relying on people whenever I am in need of something that is money, help, etc. Unfortunately, I end up getting disappointed. Likewise, this happens to the majority, when we are at that point in life when we can’t help ourselves, the immediate response is who should I call? Or who should I ask to lend me money? among others. Immediately, you start calling your relatives and may be friends, who also give you negative responses. But Jesus is saying, “Whatever you ask the Father in His name He will give you.”

Jesus was talking to his disciples that “a little while, and you will not see me and again a little while, and you will see Me.” (John 16:16). You notice that the disciples’ response to what Jesus was saying is similar to what I talked about in the above paragraph. The disciples were just asking among themselves what Jesus was meaning yet Jesus was with them. Now, why were they asking amongst themselves yet Jesus was there to answer them? Even us we are like that, Jesus is with us but we ignore him and instead run to people who even are far from us.

Let us focus our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. He says we have not because we have asked not. Therefore, instead of focusing our eyes on people, lets lift up our eyes to the Lord (the maker of heaven and earth) where our help comes from. He promises us that when we ask the Father in his name, we shall receive and our joy will be full.

Pray this out loud

Father in Heaven, I pray and believe that when we ask in Jesus’ name, we receive. We receive health, joy, peace, love and prosperity. I pray that teach us to trust you. I pray all this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
